MV & LV Distribution Upgrade
December 15, 2015
Ener-Phase Solutions completed a complicated and high-stakes distribution equipment upgrade project for a customer involving 13.8kV, 2 MVA liquid filled padmount transformers, and a new 600V Switchgear lineup with a Main-Tie-Main configuration.
Ener-Phase was able to minimize facility downtime by utilizing temporary generators and coordinating the outage with a scheduled plant turnaround. The old rental transformers were lifted off, the switchgear was placed and bolted together, and then new transformer bases were placed. New cables were then pulled into position. Loadbreak elbows and medium voltage stress cones were terminated and tested at the transformers and switchgear.
The transformer secondary LV feeders were done with 7 parallel runs of DLO utilizing a cablebus design. The transformers and switchgear were commissioned and put into service allowing the client to operate with increased capacity
